REPORT ON CAREER PATH EVENT HELD ON 3rd AUGUST

       Career path event, an annual function organized by TAPSA-MUHAS in cooperation with the school of pharmacy, this year was held on the 3rd of August, 2018 at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences, lecture hall 5 from 12:30hrs to 17:00hrs.

       The purpose of this event was to ensure that the students never lose motivation along the way of their studies and to assist students in developing goals to strive for and to be able to make major career decisions. Furthermore, to allow a panel of motivational speakers to share their stories with the students, with the goal of giving them more clarity about different career paths.

      With positive attitude and true motivation, the event this year was convened by Prof. Dr. E. Kaale (Head,Pharmaceutical Analysis Lab,Pharmaceutical R&D laboratory in School of Pharmacy) and the panelists were as follows;
      Ms. Marsha Makata – Yambi with 20 years of work experience and currently a Scientific and Regulatory affairs manager in a multinational company, Nestle. One of her teachings was that “Success has never lowered its standards, therefore always aim for higher.”


       Mr. Mavere Tukai with over 17-years hand-on experience in pharmaceutical and other related management. He conveyed that “Pharmacists fit everywhere and there are limitless opportunities out there.”

 

      Mr. Mwemezi Ngemera, the East African Regional Representative at Engenderhealth, believes and taught us that  “Never settle for less.”  


      With regard to the participation, together with the Dean, Professors and lecturers of school of pharmacy, MUHAS, around 300 students from Muhimbili university and Institute, Kampala International University and Ruaha Catholic University participated in the event.

 The rationale of the event was to give benefiting inspiration to students, to improve their personal growth and development and to provide ideas on different career paths.
      At the end of the event, the sponsors, panelists and the convener were appreciated with a gift token. Also Ntoli Mwaipopo, a B.Pharm 2 student at MUHAS was awarded by TAPSA for being among the top 5 best essay writers in TPS and IPSF-AFRO Essay competition.
      All in all, the event went through successfully and the students were glad to be a part of such an inspirational event and are warmly waiting to attend the next career path event.
